Our Story
Rebirth Through the Power of the Soil
Samandağ is a land that has thrived on its own bounty for centuries. Each season carries a distinct color, a unique fragrance, and a fresh breath of hope.
However, the earthquake of February 6th left a heavy wound in the heart of this fertile geography. Homes collapsed, lives were shattered, and the hands of the producers were severed from the soil they loved.
In those dark days, we all asked the same question:
“How will Samandağ rise again?”
The answer lay in a place we all knew deep down:
In the soil.
It was in the people who refused to let go of this land. It was in the labor of the small-scale farmer, the productive power of women, and the unwavering hope of the youth. After the earthquake, the people of Samandağ realized once again that the soil is not merely a source of livelihood; it is a way of clinging to life. The land became the bond that reunited us.
The Samandağ Agricultural Development Cooperative was born out of this very necessity. We came together to ensure that the small producer is never left alone, that their labor receives its fair value, and that they can embrace the earth once more with confidence.
This cooperative is not just a production model; it is a movement of solidarity, a story of rebirth.
As we write this story, we know one thing for certain:
The resurgence of Samandağ will be fueled by the fertility of its soil. And this story is only just beginning.
Today, this story of rebirth has turned into a concrete reality through the MOSAIC (ENHANCER) project, supported by the European Union and ICMPD. With this initiative, which eliminated the risk of our cooperative closing after the earthquake , we have brought to life our modern drying facility with an annual capacity of 900 tons and our fully equipped laboratory.
We are no longer just holding onto the soil; we are carrying Samandağ’s labor to the world with institutional strength. This story belongs not only to us but to everyone who did not turn away from the land and believed in its abundance.
